hello

Tarryn Torn is a primarily self-taught, anarchist multidisciplinary artist working in painting and sound. Drawing inspiration from Dada disruption and the intimate surrealism of Frida Kahlo, their work resists polish and hierarchy in favor of honesty, fragmentation, and emotional charge. Pastel goth palettes—pinks, blacks, bruised tones—frame worlds where tenderness and decay coexist, and where survival becomes a quiet act of refusal.

Their practice lives in liminal space: between growth and ruin, care and ferality, the body and the void. Forms blur, symbols recur, and softness is treated as both vulnerability and power. Influenced by lived experience in ecology, mutual aid, and animal education, Tarryn’s work is shaped by interdependence, systems, and the labor of keeping each other alive.

Paintings and sound pieces function as altars, interruptions, or transmissions—anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarian, and deeply personal. This is work that embraces contradiction, sits with discomfort, and imagines futures that are cooperative, strange, and defiantly tender.welcome to their piece of the internet…
